Biography
My name is Matt Procopio, I am currently the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Tiffin University in Tiffin, OH. I just recently finished my first season with the program after starting in February 2014. While coaching I am pursing a Master in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Management.
I was previously the assistant women's soccer coach at Millersville, my alma-mater for two season. As a coach with the women's program we finished with the best season in six years in 2012 and improved again in 2013, posting the most wins since 2003.
In my role at Millersville I worked closely with defenders and goalkeepers and helped the team record nine shutouts in his first two years. in 2013, the Marauders allowed the fewest goals in a season (20) since the 2002 squad.
I was born and raised in West Lawn, Pa., I was a defender for the Millersville from 2005-08, playing in 63 career games and starting 53 of them. As a senior, I helped to co-captained Millersville to a school-record 18 wins, a PSAC East Championship (12-0 record) and a second-straight appearance in the PSAC Tournament, a spot in the PSAC Championship game and a NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship. Our team achieved a No. 6 national ranking. I was fortunate enough to be named All-PSAC East Second Team, NSCAA/Adidas All-Atlantic Region Second Team, Daktronics All-Atlantic Region First Team and All-America honorable mention.
Since graduating from Millersville in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in technology education, I have explored various coaching options in across the country. I began my coaching career in the Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia areas working in various clubs and companies such as Braddock Road Youth Club (BRYC), Coerver Coaching and DC United. Following my experience on the east coast I decided to move to San Jose, California to work in local clubs and leagues in the Silicon Valley. Once I returned home I began working with the Harrisburg City Islanders Youth Academy and Lower Dauphin United while at Millersville.
I currently have an NSCAA Premier Diploma, USSF “C” License, USSF National Youth License, NSCAA Goalkeeping Level II Diploma and is a certified USA Weightlifting Level I Sports Performance Coach.
