Heard back from Buffalo today. I was able to sort out all the travel arrangements and make sure the uniforms were all set. I had to set up both itineraries as well and send them over to Terry to get approved. All was good with the itineraries therefore my work was done unless we make the playoffs. Not much of a chance to host Terry said but we shall see the weekend will be interesting.
Fort Pitt got back to me right away as I had the correct email address this time which made things much easier I made sure to pass the information on to Terry so that we were all set and ready to go for the game. I have yet to hear back from Buffalo but hope to hear back from them by tomorrow.
Creating the power point for chapter 2 was interesting in looking at how companies prepare for the the vacancies that may or may not come about over time. The job plans and job descriptions are very important to put into the power point to ensure that they have a good understanding of thing without being about to read the chapter. The definitions of key terms used are included in each of them as well. The flow charts that are used in the chapter for recruiting should prove to be very useful in the set up of the power point as well. Everything should be good to go I just need to go back through again for a final edit of everything to make sure it is all covered.
In the final weekend of the season there are two games to go and playoffs are still a possibility. I had to send out an email to talk with Buffalo and Fort Pitt about this weekends games. It was going to be a busy weekend in terms of getting both itineraries and schedules set up. I sent out my emails to each team to see if anything special was needed in terms of traveling to the game.
The final home game of the year was finally here. It was a big game tonight versus Lansing with playoff implications on the line. I made sure to make my rounds to drop off all of the necessary items to the locker rooms to ensure I got all of the paper work in on time to the referees and the press box. The AFC coaches obviously have gotten use to me so they know how I work with getting the line up cards back to me on time. I made sure to tell the Lansing coaches to please fill both out as soon as possible. The referees in the league were very strict about the line ups being given to them. I dropped off my PA script to the announcer in the booth and he was all set to go.
The game was action packed with lots of goals which kept me busy with the score card. Mike was here this week to help make sure we could print, scan and email to the league which helped. After the game it was good to catch up with everyone one last time as we were all together at the game to thank them for all of their hard work. I was able to meet a lot of great people in the organization. However, the season was not over yet with three road games to go. The 5-0 win today will help AFC in a quest for the playoffs. Conflict in the workplace can be considered valuable if applied correctly or destructive if applied incorrectly. Most conflicts are a result of a person's behavior such as aggressive, passive or indecisive. When two employees don't agree and there is clear tension then a counseling session needs to be performed. However it is up to the supervisor or manager to implement these counseling sessions, not the two employees who have the conflict. Those who are feuding must understand that this is a professional environment and not everyone handles situations uniformly. That being said, during any counseling session, there needs to data, and facts present in order to mediate the situation to come to a solution. Lastly, discipline must be present in order to avoid the situation in the future. But supervisors must understand that these two workers may never want to work with each other again and may be forced too in the future.
After sorting everything out with the Indiana game and the team traveling and playing today I had to make sure to prepare for Sunday's final home match. It was again business as usual with the game day timelines except for the time change of a 2pm game on a Sunday. I also had to make some edits to the PA script as it was the final game and we wanted to thank all the fans for their support throughout the season. I made sure to print out all of the necessary documents for the final home match of the year. Playoffs are looking like a possibility but it could be tough to get in if we do not get the results. It was interesting to talk with Terry about the playoff as well. I made sure I had everything all set and ready to go. Looking forward to the final home game.
Motivation and performance management is key to achieving the desired results from workers. This goes from youth soccer players all the way up to adults in the workforce. People want to know why they are performing the task and if they are doing an adequate job. Also if they care that if they aren't doing a adequate job that they are being informed properly and privately. However this may not always be the case in some organizations. It is key to provide the correct incentives for employees in order to create motivation for their work and to achieve desired results. For example, I would not give an adult a piece of candy for completing their task in a timely manner, but I would do that for a child. For adults, they require recognition, rewards, and appraisal. They also want continual evaluation, not just the required end of the year assessment. Basically, workers want to know that they are being valued for their work and they want recognition when they are doing an exceptional job.
I made sure everything was squared away with Indiana today and sent the travel itineraries to Terry so he could send them out to the team for Friday's match. I was also then communicating back and forth with Lansing to make sure they were all set for this weekends game. I wanted to make sure even though the game was on Sunday that they were all set. There did not seem to be any uniform issues this week either which helped make things easier with balancing having a home and away game this week.
The team is set to take on FC Indiana this week on Friday and then back home on Sunday for a game for Lansing. I had to make sure to reach out to Indiana first to make sure we were all set to go out there and that we did not need to know anything special. It was going to be a bit of a trip to FC Indiana as well so that made it more important to ensure we were prepared. I reached out to Lansing as well to make sure they were they had the necessary items for this weeks home game on Sunday. It was interesting to not have back to back home games as the split made things a little different.
