The season is set to begin in just one week and there is only one exhibition match prior to the start of the season. Unfortunately we were not able to secure our regular home stadium so we had to play the first game at our old home venue. Being my first night on the job there was a lot of things to get used to in terms of procedures. I started out by giving the substitution passes to the coaches all to find out they need to be given to the referees first and then they sign them and hand them to the coaches. That was noted to ensure I did not do that again. I also learned that the line up cards were a difficult one to get from coaches an hour before kickoff as it is not a top priority for them. However, the referees and the press box are in need of the information. Therefore, I had to make sure to get on both coaches to make sure I received them prior to kickoff. Once the match started everything was pretty simple as it was just an exhibition match and not an official match to send into the league. Overall it was a good taste into what the season will be like. In my role I could see all of the other things that had to be done prior to get everything together to make it an event and not just a game. It was great to meet everyone I would be working with this summer as well.
